Michelle Moode & Woody Leslie
May 9 - June 17
Opening reception Friday, May 12 / 5-7pm
Specimens is a collaborative series of microinstallations by Michelle Moode and Woody Leslie. The artists collaborated on the frameworks and components rather than the artworks themselves. Each piece is framed in an identical 5” x 7” specimen box, and sources material from a shared pool of repurposed prints and handmade paper. Similar themes are explored by both artists, including: making a little home in a big world; storytelling and memory; the use (and misuse) of language; symbology of everyday objects; and the importance of birds, plants, and gardens. The resulting works express the unique voice of each artist, while branching from similar roots.
