WORKSHOP REGISTRATION FORMS: ADULT - YOUTH
GOURD MOBILE WORKSHOP
Date and Time: Wed. Sept. 1 and Thurs. Sept. 2, 4:00 – 5:30

Start your engines…of creativity. Participants will be given all the supplies needed (gourds, wheels, axels etc) to build their very own gourd mobile! Which can then be put to the test in the Gourd Mobile Derby during Mayfield’s Gourd Patch Festival on Sep. 18. For more information on the Festival, contact Icehouse Arts at icehousearts.org. Workshop fee includes Derby entry fee. Join the fun while transforming the humble gourd in to an artful racer!
CLAY: HOME & GARDEN CLASS (beginners – advanced)
Date and Time: Weekly for 8 weeks, 2 sessions
1: Evenings: Tues. Sept. 14 – Nov. 2, 6-9pm
2: Days: Wed. Sept 15 – Nov. 3, 9am-noon
Fee: $225 (10% discount for Guild members, 25% discount for returning)

Time to let your imagination soar and have some fun creating delightfully functional or whimsical objects in clay! Learn how to use a variety of hand-building techniques to create items that can be used for the home or garden. Demonstrations and discussions on form will take place early in the class and surface embellishment and firing in the last part of the class. Course fee includes 25 lbs of clay, the use of classroom tools, glazes and firing. Need to bring an old bath towel, a small hand towel, a simple, inexpensive sketchbook/notebook and your imagination. Maximum enrollment: 5

Mjos Thursday Night Studios
Date:Thursday evenings: SUMMER BREAK, resumes after Labor Day
Time: 6-9pm
Fee: $20 month (members) $40 month (non-members) or $10 weekly
Local artist Rick Mjos will be holding open studios. This is an informal studio for artists of all abilities who choose to work independently while benefiting from informed feed back and a chance to address art making issues. Rick will address topics based on the elements of art and design as well as materials and techniques important to successful painting and drawing. Bring your own materials and work in progress, or work from set ups provided. While studios meet every Thursday, third Thursday of each month a model will be available for life studies. Guild by Tuesday noon to reserve your space. This is an on-going class
which will continue through the fall. The session is non-instructional
and artist are encouraged to work in media of choice.
Weave A Rug In A Day
The loom is warped (light colors) and weavers
are on hand … just waiting for you to weave! Make an appointment
during regular Guild hours (Saturday by arrangemment) to come in and weave a beautiful rag rug of your own design.
Materials are available, you simply decide what works for you.
Fee: $20 Guild members, $25 non-members.
Plein Air - Wednesday August 4: Clarksriver Rec Area off of 94 east form Murray
MAG Plein Air Painters will
meet in various locations for a day of painting “in the open
air”. Meets on the first WEDNESDAY of each month. Plan to meet
at designated location at 9am. Bring painting or drawing supplies (most
folks will be working in watercolor, oils, pastels) everything you’ll
need to be comfortable (easel, chairs, etc.) and a lunch.
MAG Plein Air Painting Mondays are
non-instructional with no fees charged. This informal gathering will
give everyone a chance to work independently throughout the day, and
then come together over lunch and at the end of the day to share trials
and triumphs.
YOUTH: FALL ART STUDIOS

YOUTH CLAY - HANDBULIDING (ages 10up)
Date and Time: 6 Weeks, Thursdays beginning Sept. 16, 4:00-5:30
Fee: $180 (10% discounts for members)
Instructor: Reid Parish
Participants will explore the medium of clay through a variety of hand building techniques. The first sessions will focus on creating the pieces and the last sessions will be set aside for glazing. All clays and glazes are non-toxic. Course fee includes clay, the use of classroom tools, glazes and firing. Need to bring an old bath towel, a small hand towel, a simple, inexpensive sketchbook/notebook, and your imagination. Maximum enrollment: 5
MAG JRs – After School Studio
Date & Time: Tuesdays for 12 weeks, Sept. 7 – Nov. 30, 4-5:30pm
Fee: $165 (10% discount for guild members)
Instructor: Debi Henry Danielson
Ages: 7 and up
Danielson uses artists and their artwork as a starting point for this studio. Participants learn about various artists and art movements as they create their own work. Emphasis is on arts awareness and self-expression through painting and drawing.
Side by Side: Fall 2010
Date and Time: Sept. 13 – Oct. 25, 4:00 – 5:30
Instructor: Debi Henry Danielson and Stacey Reason
VSA arts of Kentucky, Murray State University and the Murray Art Guild partner to offer Side by Side a 6-week studio for students with disabilities designed to make available creative opportunities and reinforce the value of arts education. After completing the studios students are partnered with local artist to work collaboratively on a piece. The program culminates with an exhibition of student work, artist work and collaborative work.
Messy Friday: Fall 2010
Date and Time: 10 weeks beginning Friday Oct.1 running through Dec. 10, 9-10am
Fee: $70 (10% discount for Guild members)
Instructor: Barb Kilby
Age: 3-5, (preschool and parent)
Barb will work with these young artists and their adult partners in a variety of materials and techniques with developing motor skills in age appropriate projects. The emphasis is on process as students are given materials and supplies to explore and build on their creative process. Projects will include some painting, drawing, collage as well as 3D techniques.
