Growing up in Pikeville, KY, Ron Ratliff aqcuired a predilection for working with wood and other natural resources. His hobbies ranged from woodworking, general carpentary and silversmithing. In 1997, after serving in the Air Force for 22 years and the US Postal Service for 13 years, Ron retired to Kentucky.

Along with retirement came a renewed interest and time to pursue his passion for wood working. His loving wife gifted Ron with a minilathe in 2009, addding to his already impressive workshop, allowing him to pursuewoodworking with renewed passion and creatvity. Ron is challenged by the art of woodturning and enjoys the satisfaction of using his hands and imagination to create works of everlasting beauty in wood through the art of segmented woodturning.

His designs are inspired by Southwestern, prehistoric and modern pottery. Ron's devotion to unique hand crafted bowls, vases and urns is evident in the attention and detail displayed in all of his work.
